BTC/m² = NOK/m² ÷ the quarter's BTC/NOK rate. We first average the daily rates for each month, then average the three monthly means with equal weight. Every calendar day must have a rate, and the quarter must have ended. Missing data appears as gaps, while housing prices in NOK remain visible.
The USD price is the NOK price divided by the period's average USD/NOK rate from Norges Bank. Weekends and holidays use the latest rate for up to seven days.
From 2024K1 we use rates based on collected trading volume: the sum of NOK divided by the sum of BTC for positive daily volumes, including historical JuJu figures. Each quarter uses one rate source. Later gaps in trading data are not filled with external rates.
Before the transition, we use daily BTC/USD from Blockchain.com multiplied by USD/NOK from Norges Bank. The latest foreign exchange rate may be carried forward for up to seven calendar days. Bitcoin prices are never carried forward.
The current Statistics Norway series is checked daily at 12:15 Norwegian time. Historical series are stored once and updated as needed. The website may cache responses for five minutes.
