How prices are compared

Each year shows the standard model with the smallest storage capacity on its first day of sale in Norway. Prices are Norwegian outright purchase prices including VAT, without contracts, trade-ins or offers. Pro, Plus, mini, Air, SE and other special variants are excluded. The iPhone XR is used for 2018.

We divide the launch price in NOK by the BTC/NOK rate on the first Norwegian sale date. We do not adjust for better cameras, more storage or other changes in quality and specifications. These are purchase prices, not the price of an unchanged product.

The USD price is the NOK price divided by the Norges Bank USD/NOK rate on the sale date. Weekends and holidays use the latest rate for up to seven days.

From 2024K1 we use volume-weighted daily rates from our database: total trading value in NOK divided by total BTC volume, including historical JuJu data. Before that, we use stored BTC/USD history from Blockchain.com and USD/NOK from Norges Bank.

For historical USD/NOK rates, we use the latest published bank rate within seven days. A BTC rate must exist on the actual sale date. Later gaps in Norwegian trading data are not filled with external rates. A sale date still in progress receives a BTC price only after the day has ended.
